To which I say: fuck you, God
So the context for this dream is very important if you want to understand what the title means in relation to the rest of the dream. Basically what happened was I had to get up at like 4:30 am on a Caturday because of a Science Olympiad competition that was taking place somewhere far away from where I live (which is why we have to get up so early— we have to ride a bus all the way there and it starts at like 9 am). I tried to get to bed early so that I could have enough sleep. I took some melatonin pills (which as some of you may know is a neurotransmitter that makes people sleepy) and went to bed at 9. I caught up on more sleep on the bus but I got only 6 hours of sleep initially. I also had lots of random dreams. In one of them, I believe I had just gotten out of a sticky situation and I thought,
Hey, maybe I should give God some credit for this? Thanks, I guess. And as soon as I had that thought God dropped me in the middle of a battle with a dragon and I got super salty because I would never fight a dragon, so I was like
I take that back. Fuck you, God.
Anyway, this dreamlog is a little bit dramatized because I thought it would be a good story idea and I published it on Wattpad as a regular short story. Only the first half of the story came from my dream. I expanded it a bit near the end because I was actually interrupted in the middle of the dream when my alarm rang and I had to leave so there wasn't a good ending.
Without further ado— here is my dream:
I stood in front of the dragon, sword in hand. Ready to strike my target at the first opportunity. Taking in a breath, she exhaled a cloud of dark smoke and my vision was obstructed. A fluttering of wings alerted me to the location of my enemy. I stuck with my sword. There was an ear-splitting screech as the creature fell to the ground. I finished it off with a final slice of my sword.
Good work. A voice in my mind said.
Don't let down your guard. Its friends are coming. There was a low growling sound behind me, I whipped around and saw a glittering of purple scales and piercing yellow eyes. The dragon roared in my direction and lept. I quickly rolled out of the way to avoid her large tail. A shrill screeching told me another one of the creatures was finished.
By now the smoke had cleared. I could count four other winged beasts coming to their comrade's aid from the south. I sheathed my sword and pulled out my bow. I'll shoot them right where it hurts.
There's more above you. The voice said.
I'll take the ones to the left.
Got it. I replied.
Leathery wings stirred up the air around me and I aimed my bow at the sky. Rapidly firing my arrows, I took down three of the creatures.
This is too easy. I smirked.
Don't gloat. This is just the beginning.Suddenly, I felt multitudes of tiny claws on my back. I tried to unsheathe my sword but it is battered away, perhaps on accident. I cried out as the pain washed over me. I would receive a lethal dose of their venom if I didn't get the creature off my back now. I could already feel my strength fading.
Niernen...The weight of the creature was lifted off of me as quickly as it had jumped on. I rolled to the side and tried to sit up, but the pain was excruciating. Niernen finished off the creature with a bite to the head. She spewed purple flames at the others, daring them to challenge her. They made a strategic retreat.
How bad is it? Niernen asked, walking over and nudging me with her snout.
Pretty bad. I replied.
Let me see. With a lot of effort, I managed to sit and show her my back. I could feel the blood draining out of my body into a pool of red staining the grass. Niernen ran the tip of her tongue over my wounds, being careful not to cut me with the barbs on the rest of her tongue. Under her rhythmic strokes, I drifted into a peaceful rest.
In case anyone's wondering, I woke up right after "This is too easy."
